‘Tis the Season of Giving: Help Families Celebrate the Holidays at Home
In May 2020, LaShawnda and her daughter, Everlyn, were living with a family member with the dream of having their own home one day. That’s when LaShawnda partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Baldwin County and set a personal goal for herself to purchase her first home by the end of 2021, just in time to celebrate the holidays. LaShawnda put in a lot of effort during her home buying journey. She regularly attended financial education coaching and counseling, Financial Foundations, and worked overtime at a local convenience store to save up money and help her become mortgage ready. LaShawnda’s “one day” came in November when she purchased her new home in Robertsdale. The mother-daughter duo was so thrilled to receive the keys to their new home, Everlyn began dancing in her new room. Congratulations LaShawnda! We hope you create many memories in your new house.
